Objectives
Comparison of methods used (bioassay vs molecular) to detect PA from soil samples
Outcomes
Results indicates that quantitative PCR is a more sensitive method for the detection of PA than baiting. We also confirm that DNA sequence analysis using primers can distinguish between Phytophthora species that are closely related to PA. Combination of baiting for Phytophthora with DNA sequencing methods reduces time to screen individual samples.
